When you tell people you’re quitting your job to travel the world for a year, the first question seems to be “where are you starting”? It’s like when you get engaged, and people say “Congrats!! when’s the wedding?” all in one sentence.
We’re starting in Melbourne. That was the easy decision. Our friends Michael and Amy are going there to start their Australian vacation, and told us to come with them. So we are. Two weeks in Australia: Melbourne – Cairns – Sydney. Then Matt and I head to New Zealand for three weeks, where the only thing planned is a Great Walk (the Kepler Track) and a rental car.
After New Zealand …. we will be back in Seattle for 3-ish weeks. Wait.. that’s not a year, that’s only 5 weeks. Yes, well I have a nephew on the way, due in April. And since it may very well be the only nephew I get from my sister, we’re coming home to do that family stuff.
Our one way ticket to Europe is purchased for May 6th. We’re flying into Frankfurt because we found a steal of a deal. From there, we don’t know yet. But we’ll post lots of pictures and GoPro videos on this blog as we go places.
