Rialto Beach Trip Report

We visited Rialto Beach for an overnight trip on Saturday. You can stay overnight as long as you’re willing to walk about a mile up the beach, past Ellen Creek. Unfortunately, we found cloudy skies and misty rain all evening. It wasn’t enough to stop us from building a sweet driftwood bonfire and stay up till 2am making s’mores.

I loved the place. There is an rock arch called “Hole in the Wall” about 1/2 mile past Ellen Creek. There is plenty of driftwood for fires this early in the year.

You’ll need to make sure that you bring a bear canister and a backcountry permit. Both can be had cheaply at the Wilderness Information Center in Port Angeles. While on 101 heading West, turn left at the Jack in the Box and it will be on your right in a mile. The bear can is a $3 donation, and the permit is $5 per night.

Here are some pictures of our trip.
