Each of the following is something awesome that I felt compelled to save over the last three years. Most of them are marketing related, some are about web design, and some are just generally interesting in some way. Hope you enjoy!
- SERP Snippet Optimizer – If you’re doing SEO you need to write good titles and descriptions. This tool lets you see what they’ll look like.
- Google Analytics Advanced Segmentation Guide – this guide from iAcquire is really recent and easy to follow. It starts to show you how powerful advanced segmenting can be.
- Everything You Need to Know About Rich Snippets – If you’re trying to get stars next to your search results, you’ll love this.
- How to do Snappy Text Graphics – Ahhhh clear and concise guide to text graphics? Yes please! Oliver Emberton makes it easy.
- 6 Google Docs SEOs Need – Benjamin Beck already put together a post outlining what they do, so read that. He’s actually aggregating the work of a bunch of other people.
- Find Anyone’s Email – This is one of the coolest things on the interweb. Type in a first and last name and a company and find that exec’s email. Wicked.
- Local SEO FAQ – If you’re marketing a local business, this is a must read. Dominate Google maps and organic search.
- Darren Shaw on Local Search – More stuff for local SEO.
- Analytics Academy by Segment.io – New to analytics? This is free.
- Mind Mapping / Brainstorm Tool – I love these kinds of tools and the Exobrain one is pretty good.
- Email Campaign Ideas You Might be Missing – there are some great ideas here, and you should give it a glance if you need to market your product.
- WordPress Guide for Small Businesses – This is an awesome flowchart for you if you’re just getting started with your product website… or even if you just need to improve your current site.
- AimClear’s Persona Modeling Guide – Learn all about creating personas for your customer base. If you don’t know what that is, then this is all the more important.
- All the Flag Icons You Could Ever Want – it’s literally all the flags.
- Must Have Internet Marketing Tools – The incomparable Annie Cushing’s ridiculously comprehensive internet marketing tool collection. Once you go here, you’ll never finish the rest of my list.
- How to Pick a Sweet Domain Name – Cyrus Shepard explains how a little machine help and some adwords data can help you pick a legit domain.
- A Beginner’s Guide to Paid Search – Read this in 5 minutes to get some quick ideas of things to be aware of. It isn’t comprehensive but it is good.
- Conversion Rate Optimization Guide – This is really long, and you’ll like that about it. If you’re not conversion rate savvy, you should be, and this will help you start getting there.
- Icon Finder! – This awesome search engine will help you find the perfect icon for your next project. Icon’t believe it.
- Regular Expressions Guide for GA – I think learning regular expressions was the best thing that I did for my Google Analytics skills. This guide was helpful.
- SEO’s guide to Regex – Similar to above, this shows some good uses for
- An Issue Tree to Answer “Why has my traffic dropped?” – If your site’s traffic goes away this will help you quickly sanity check.
- Technical SEO Site Audit Checklist – This is a great list for anyone who wants to get the bases covered for best practices. It was written by Geoff Kenyon, who I know and can vouch for. He’s good.
- 350 Completely Free Icons – Vector graphics, for free. This is a great collection.
- Lifehacker “How to Choose the Best Chart for your Data” – Pretty self explanatory.
- Excel for SEO Guide – Save time by reading this, you’ll learn a lot. But the best excel tip is “Google it.” Seriously. Just type in “how do I _____ in excel” and you’ll find your answers.
- How to do ReTargeting – you know how you looked at those jeans last week and now they’re following you all over the internet?
